Day 1 Departure from Italy

.

Day 2 Arrival at Windhoek, meeting with our representative (Italian-speaking) and handover of your hire car, type Toyota Fortuner Auto Diesel DCab 4x4 or similar, classic plus cover. Start of your self-drive journey with arrival in the afternoon in the Kalahari Desert. Stay 1 night at Kalahari Lodge, in a comfort double room, breakfast included. The Kalahari, a rugged land of scorching sun and relentless wind, a land of great aridity and mystery. After the first rains, a land transformed into exquisite beauty with the dunes erupting in a riot of colour!

The Kalahari conjures up different images in people's minds: some see it as a scorching desert, others see it as a future rich in flora and fauna. Its relative inaccessibility, red sand dunes, uncertain rainfall and lack of surface water make it truly one of Africa's last frontiers.

Day 3 After breakfast, depart in the direction ofThe Namib Desert. Arrive in Sossusvlei and stay for 2 nights at Le Mirage Resort & Spa, in an oasis double room, half board included (excluding drinks). The Namib Desert è commonly considered the world's oldest desert having existed for some 43 million years; è a vast expanse of gravel plains and dunes of all shapes and sizes stretching along the Namibian coastline.

.

The Namib Desert includes the Namib Naukluft National Park, the largest park in Namibia and the third largest in Africa. The Naukluft mountain area was created as a sanctuary for the Hartmann's zebra and in 2013 a large part of the desert became a World Heritage Site under the name "Namib Sand Sea".

.

Day 4 Wake up at dawn and excursion to the dunes of Sossusvlei and later to the nearby Sesriem Canyon by 4x4 (approx. 6 hours). Upon completion return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

.

Day 5 After breakfast, continue the drive in the direction of the Atlantic coast. Arrive in Walvis Bay and stay overnight for 2 nights at the Oysterbox Guest House, in a comfort double room, breakfast included.

.

Sandwich Harbour, in the grounds of the Namib Naukluft, è a place many have heard of but few have visited. The tours start each morning at the Sandwich Harbour 4x4 office in Walvis Bay; after a short break at the Walvis Bay lagoon to admire the flamingos, the 4x4s head to the first dunes and delta of the Kuiseb River, a dry river where animals such as springboks and jackals can be seen. To reach Sandwich Harbour, one of the richest and most unique wetlands in southern Africa, you drive along the shoreline, defying the tides, until you reach the lagoon. Nestled between the sea and the Namib dunes, the Sandwich Harbour lagoon is formed by subterranean seepage of fresh water; here guests will have time to admire the view, stroll along the beach in search of flamingos and pelicans or climb the dunes adjacent to the sea. An itinerary of pure enjoyment punctuated by numerous spectacular views.

Day 6 After breakfast, free day for individual visits. In the afternoon, you will reach an appointed meeting point at the Waterfront, Walvis Bay, and depart for a 4x4 excursion to Sandwich Harbour with sunset over the dunes (4 to 8 pm). Upon completion return to the lodge, dinner at leisure and overnight.

.

Day 7 After breakfast, continue the journey towards Damaraland. Overnight stay of 2 nights at Twyfelfontein Country Lodge, in a standard double room, half board included (excluding drinks)

.

The Petrified Forest is the largest accumulation of fossilised logs in southern Africa. The logs are in an excellent state of preservation and have been declared a national monument; the presence of hundreds of more or less exposed, perfectly fossilised and mostly complete logs indicates that they were transported, deposited in situ and rapidly covered with sediment during a major flood event. The presence of evident growth rings in the trunk sections indicates the type of growing environment of the plants themselves, characterised by a seasonal climate with marked variations in rainfall.

.

Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO protected site, is an archaeological site located in Damaraland, about 90 km west of Khorixas. Twyfelfontein, meaning “uncertain source”, è one of the most important collections of rock engravings in the world, these drawings are believed to have been made by the ancestors of the Bushmen. French palaeontologist Henri Breuil called these drawings "landscapes of the soul" and scientists have estimated their age to be between 1,000 and 6,000 years. The site è was declared a national monument in 1952.

.

Day 8 After breakfast, depart with an English-speaking guide for a guided tour of the rock carvings and paintings at TThe Burnt Mountain and The Organ Pipes. Return in the early afternoon to the lodge, lunch at leisure. In the afternoon, excursion with English-speaking guides into the arid valley of the Aba-Huab River, in search of desert-adapted elephants. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

.

Day 9 After breakfast, depart in the direction of Etosha National Park, where you will spend two nights at Okaukuejo Camp, in waterhole view chalets, breakfast included.

.

The Etosha National Park is located in the north of Namibia, with a total area of 22,900 km². In the Oshivambo language, the name "Etosha" means "great white place" referring to the colour of the saline desert soil that makes up 25% of the park area. The central part of the park consists of the Etosha Pan, a depression of 5000 km². During the rainy season, the Pan is sometimes flooded by the Oshana and Omiramba rivers. In the dry season, the Pan reverts to desert characteristics. The Etosha Park is home to 114 species of mammals, 340 of birds, 110 of reptiles, 16 of amphibians and even one species of fish. Mammals in the park include elephants, springboks, zebras, giraffes, oryx, kudu, wildebeests, elands, dik dik, lions, hyenas, leopards and cheetahs. Endemic to the area is the rare black-faced impala.

Day 10 After breakfast, free day in the park. Return to the camp in the afternoon.

Day 11 After breakfast, free day in the park. Arrival in the afternoon at Mokuti Etosha Lodge and overnight for 1 night in a standard double room, including half board (excluding drinks).

.

Day 12 After breakfast, depart in the direction of Windhoek. Overnight stay of 1 night at The Elegant Guesthouse, in a standard double room, breakfast included.

.

Day 13 After breakfast, arrival at the airport in time for car rental and boarding formalities. Flight to Italy.
