Where is it located: Nambiti Hill Private Lodge è a beautiful property situated in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains, about 80 kilometres from Cathedral Peak Mountain and a few dozen kilometres from Golden Gate National Park.
The Indian Ocean coast, to the south, is a 2-3 hour drive away.
A stay in Nambiti is the ideal complement to a mountain holiday in the Drakensberg Mountains and allows, with a journey of just a few kilometres, to see a completely different and very “African” reality, in the most typical sense of the word.

DESCRIPTION: Situated in a green and hilly area and in the middle of the reserve of the same name, the Nambiti Hills offers a vast and varied area of over 20,000 acres, completely protected and populated by all the large animal species (the Big Five) as well as impalas, zebras and many others.
The lodge è a structure built to offer guests maximum comfort in full respect of the surrounding nature, fully integrated into it.
The construction, which includes the communal areas and the suites, predominantly uses natural materials such as stone, wood and thatch; the lodge is located on the top of one of the highest hills in the area, offering guests a spectacular 360° view of the vast spaces below.
The lodge is also a perfect place to relax and enjoy the view of the surrounding countryside. Simply unforgettable are the views from the wooden terraces where the bar and restaurant are located and from the terrace of the rooms.
All the suites, however, enjoy beautiful views and great tranquillity, as they are not incorporated into the main structure, near which is the panoramic restaurant and the open space where romantic open-air dinners are served with tables set around the fire.

ROOMS: Nambiti has 8 Luxury Suites and one Honeymoon Suite.

The Luxury Suites are very spacious and are all divided into 4 areas: the bedroom proper, the lounge, the bathroom (very large, stone with double vanity) and a terrace with a view of the bush.

The equipment is of the highest standard, as is the care taken in the furnishings; there is a king-size bed with mosquito net, minibar, air conditioning, tea & coffee facilities, telephone and Internet lines.
The Honeymoon Suite has a terrace with a view of the bush. The Honeymoon Suite has a larger terrace and double indoor and outdoor showers.
Maximum, always, attention to detail.


HIGHLIGHTS: The Nambiti reserve è a private, fenced area where, with care and full respect for nature, the original habitat of the African savannah has been reconstructed; it is no coincidence that those staying at Nambiti will see It is no coincidence that those staying at Nambiti will see their activities centred on game drives, i.e. exciting 4x4 excursions with rangers, into the reserve and into the thickest bush to encounter the various South African animal species.
It will be easy to spot herbivores such as antelope, impala, wildebeest, buffalo and springbok, which are numerous in the open, flat areas, but if you follow the more intricate tracks, you will have the great thrill of silently approaching lions, elephants, leopards and rhinos. In addition to the usual standard of full board, the service normally offered includes two game drives per day, one at sunrise and a second at sunset.
Nambiti also offers very interesting prospects for birdwatchers (263 different species of birds present) and fly-fishermen.
Not forgetting the fact that even a simple day of relaxation in the comfort of the lodge will be worthwhile, we point out that excursions outside the reserve are also organised, such as visits to the Anglo-Boer war memorials not far away, and ethnic shopping trips.
Finally, we would like to make an observation based on our experience: if you go to Nambiti, do not forget to look at the sky on a starry night because the total absence of light pollution makes visible a celestial vault of rare beauty and sharpness.
Given its location close to the mountains and in the middle of the route from Johannesburg to Durban, it will not only be a destination for those who devote their holidays to safaris, but also for those who want to experience nature with the Big Five without precluding the possibility of staying in areas that allow for very different activities.
